CLASS 202 - Discovering Spiritual Maturity

This is the second of Southside's four basic classes. Because each class builds on the previous one, you must take the CLASSes in order starting with 101.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLASS:

" . . . that you may become mature Christians and may fulfill God's will for you." - Colossians 4:12b (Ph)

"Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth. Instead, we will hold to the truth in love, becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of His Body, the church." - Ephesians 4:14-15 (NLT)

THE FOCUS OF THIS CLASS:

We will focus on the five basic habits every Christian needs to develop in their movement toward spiritual maturity. This class will help you better understand and develop these five habits:

TIME WITH GOD, BIBLE STUDY, PRAYER, TITHING, AND FELLOWSHIP

CLASS 303 - Discovering My Ministry

This is the third of Southside's four foundational classes. These classes build on each other, first with Discovering Church Membership, then Discovering Spiritual Maturity and this, the third class, Discovering My Ministry. The reason for this progression is because we believe it is important for you to be committed to a church body through membership and committed to the habits of spiritual maturity before beginning your ministry. Membership (CLASS 101) and Maturity (CLASS 202) are the foundations for you doing Ministry (CLASS 303).

Anyone who attends Southside for any length of time without hearing about the need to have a ministry has missed one of the major values of our church's ministry. We exist to prepare ministers from within our church body. If we only prepare attendees, then we have fallen short of our goal. If someone attends church and simply sits and soaks in the message without serving, we believe their faith will sour and their spiritual life will suffer.

The Bible tells us we must do something with our faith!

"In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, 'You have faith; I have deeds.' Show me your faith without deeds and I will show you my faith by what I do." - James 2:17-18

One of the primary reasons we exist is for you to discover God's purpose for your life and to fulfill that purpose by doing ministry.

CLASS 404 - Discovering My Life's Mission

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." - Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

"There are many people to harvest but there are only a few workers to help harvest them." - Matthew 9:37 (LB)

Southside's fourth and final class in this succession will instruct you in The Great Commission - evangelism!

God wants all of His people to be saved.

"Send us around the world with the news of Your saving power and Your eternal plan for all mankind." - Psalm 67:2 (LB)

GOALS FOR YOU AND FOR THIS CHURCH

1. That every member will complete the Life Development Process, the four classes, and truly keep the commitments they have made along the way.

2. That every Class 404 graduate will make a commitment to accept as their personal responsibility the Great Commission and actively share their faith on a regular basis.

3. That every 404 graduate will actively cultivate relationships with the people in their Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria for the purpose of sharing the good news with them. Also to go into the whole world by going on at least one mission experience in another country.

4. That every 404 graduate would have the privilege of personally baptizing at least one person into Christ.
